With mixed emotions, I would like to share that our wonderful secretary Lisa Cook has accepted a temporary position at the Education Centre in the Health, Safety and Security Department. The students and staff will miss seeing Ms. Cook’s smile in the office every day. On behalf of the school, I would like to wish Ms. Cook the best of luck in her new position. Ms. Cook’s last day will be on Friday, June 5.

Thank you to our generous families for their support of the intermediate music program at Sir Adam Beck P.S. Currently the students and their families have raised over $4000 and we are still counting donations.

Me to We Update: Congratulations to our students for raising money to purchase goats to help families in Sierra Leone. Today the school received an additional $2500 from Robin Hood as we were the recipient for the We Bake for Change Award. This year the students have raised over $6600 from the following projects:

$1100 – bake sale and pie in the face

$100 – donation from the Kokkelink family’s 3 Brothers Lemonade stand

$3000 – Ford One Drive fundraiser

$2500 – Robin Hood We Bake For Change award

Bag-2-School: Having a garage sale this weekend or simply doing some spring cleaning? Let us help you with those items that don’t sell or you no longer want – donate them to us and we’ll make sure they go to a new home, while supporting the school at the same time! We will be collecting the following clean, gently used items: Clothing, soft toys, shoes and boots (tied together), belts, purses, material, linens, towels and drapery. Bag2School is a company that specializes in collecting good quality, second-hand clothing & household items for reuse in developing countries. For every ton of bags collected the school will earn $200 from Bag2School.

Simply collect your reusable items, place them in a plastic bag (please no boxes) at 1371 Bridge St. East on Saturday, May 23 (9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) or at the school on Monday, May 25 before 9:30 a.m. The money raised from this project supports our students by subsidizing field trips for all students, purchasing devices for the classroom, and providing enhancements for students.

Professional Activity Day: On Friday, May 29 the school will be closed for a Professional Activity Day.

Hot lunch survey: The members of school council is looking at setting up the hot lunch program for the upcoming school year. Please fill out a brief survey to help the council make the best decisions for our students.
