The Optimist Club of New Dundee proudly presents another “Winter Wonder Days” on Sunday, February 22 at the New Dundee Community Centre. Preschool children to students in Grade 6 are invited to participate in two cool events this Sunday:

-mini-sticks tournament between 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (don’t forget to bring your own mini-stick) and;
-youth spa day between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Children will be pampered and leave refreshed!

The Optimist Club is still accepting names for a free bowling event for parents and children on Saturday, March 18 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please email info@newdundeeoptimists.ca with your name and the number of participants. Thank you to the members of the Optimist Club of New Dundee for supporting our community.

On Monday, February 23, students will be receiving their report cards. Please review the report card and contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Tuesday, February 24 at 9:00 a.m. is the new deadline for placing an East Side Mario’s pasta lunch for Wednesday, February 25. Orders can be placed through School Day.

On Friday, February 28, students are encouraged to wear the colours they think would be good school colours. The school is looking to changing the school colours (currently they are green and red) and the students in room 3 will be looking for all of the great colour combinations as they visit classes next Friday. Also on Friday, each student will receive a free slice of pizza to celebrate their participation in the Hour of Code last December. A label was placed in all students’ planners asking students to select a cheese, pepperoni or gluten free slice of pizza.

New Dundee Public School invites you to submit a logo design for the school. Any New Dundee Public School student, parent, sibling, relative, or neighbors are eligible for the contest. Come up with a dragon image and keep it simple, creative and original. You can include up to four colours. Judging will be done by a group of New Dundee students, staff, school council members, and community members. It will be based on originality, design quality, and visual impact.

Entries become the sole property of New Dundee Public School and will not be returned. New Dundee Public School has the right to modify the design to meet the graphic requirements. Entries must be 8 ½” by 11” in size (vertical format). The following information must appear with each entry: name, home address, phone number, and name of student (if applicable). The winning design will receive a free t-shirt and the student’s class will receive a class party. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Michelutti. Entries are due to the office by Friday, March 6.

School Council is looking for parents or community members to help with their Staff Appreciation Lunch on Thursday, March 5. If you are able to help (set up lunch, prepare food, supervise students), please send an email to andrea_michelutti@wrdsb.on.ca and your name will be forwarded to the members of school council.

To help the office improve communication with parents, a survey has been created to collect data to see the most common forms of communication parents use. The office is looking for feedback to ensure parents are part of the school community.
