School Updates

March 13 to March 27

We would like to wish all of our students and their families a safe March Break! Students return to school on Monday, March 23 at 9:20 a.m. The school will be closed during the break.

Upcoming events:

Hot lunches and pizza: Please remember to place your hot lunch and pizza orders by Wednesday, March 18 at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday’s hot lunches and Thursday’s pizza lunches will last from March Break to the end of the school year.

East Side Mario Pasta Lunch: Orders for Wednesday, March 25 are due by Tuesday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m.

Colour House: Thank you to all of our students for their participation in our colour house activities! It’s great to see the excitement in our school. Our next colour house is on Wednesday, March 25.

Kindergarten Information Night: On Wednesday, March 25 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., families with children new to kindergarten are encouraged to attend our information night. Please RSVP by emailing lisa_cook@wrdsb.on.ca or calling the school at 519-696-2296. Child care for other siblings is available.

Safety Drills: The most important job I have as a principal is to keep the students safe. Throughout the year, the students practice different drills to ensure they understand their role if an emergency was to take place. All children across Ontario participate in a variety of mandatory drills (fire, tornado, hold and secure drills) throughout the year. On Friday, March 27, our students will participate in the tornado drill and later in the spring, students will participate in 3 fire drills.

Mark your calendar for May 6: On Wednesday, May 6, the students will be performing the songs they wrote, performed and recorded in the fall. There will be two concerts for families: the afternoon concert will begin at 12:15 p.m. and the evening concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. The concert will take place at the school. Due to limited space, the evening concert will be limited to two adults per family so we encourage families to attend the afternoon concert. More details will be shared in April.

School Logo Contest: Thank you to the parent who volunteered to help select the new school logo. The team will be meeting after the break and the new design will be shared in a few weeks. Thank you to all of the families and friends who submitted entries.
