Principal Message

A special thank you to our students for a great week. Our students were working hard demonstrating their reading, writing and math skills. It was great seeing the students wear Green and White to celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day on September 25.

Seniors Club

Senior citizens in New Dundee and Mannheim are invited to join Seniors Club for a morning of food, conversation, and social activities with students in Grade 5 and Grade 6. The first meeting is on Wednesday, October 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Seniors Club will help our students at New Dundee Public School learn about their neighbours. Please call New Dundee Public School at 519-696-2296 by October 5 to register for this fun and exciting club. Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbours.

Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run will take place on Tuesday, September 29 at 12:10 p.m. We are asking students to donate a toonie for this event.

WE Day

On October 1, Ms. Michelutti will be taking a group of students to WE Day in Toronto. The students will be inspired to help others and learn about how their actions can change the world.

Less Distractions = More Learning

We would like to ask for your assistance in helping us implement our “Less Distractions = More Learning” policy at New Dundee Public School. In the interest of making the best possible learning environment for all of our students, we are asking parents to respect our policy of dropping off or picking up students at the office only. Please refrain from walking them to class or picking them up from class. We feel that this is the best policy to promote learning for all students, and makes for the most efficient transition into learning for our late arrivers. If you are concerned for younger students who arrive late, Mrs. Wilkins , Ms. Michelutti, or another available staff member can escort them to class. Thanks for your joint effort in creating the best learning environment for all our Dragons!

Morning Announcements

For the next month, we will be playing O’Canada and having our announcements at 11:15 a.m. to try to reduce the the number of distractions at the beginning of the day. At the end of October, we will revisit this change to see if there there is a change in the morning routine.

Gardening Nights

We are looking for extra hands to weed the front garden on Friday, October 2 and Friday, October 16 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. If you are interested in helping on gardening night, please come to the school on October 2 or October 16 with your gardening gloves and tools to weed.

Volunteer Needed

Ms. Michelutti is looking for a volunteer to help her take pictures of students for the new Dragons for Excellence bulletin board. If you have some free time and an interest in photography, please email andrea_michelutti@wrdsb.on.ca
