Principal Message

We are excited for our Christmas Concert. This year’s concert will take place on Tuesday, December 15 at the Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church located at 1531 Bridge Street in New Dundee. There will be a dress rehearsal at 10:00 a.m. and the evening concert at 7:00 p.m. All extended families, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend the dress rehearsal as the evening concert is busier.

If you haven’t done so already, please visit the School-Day website to sign the permission form for your child to attend the dress rehearsal on Tuesday, December 15.

Hour of Code

Last week our students participated in the Hour of Code. The purpose of this event was to expose all of our students to computer science. When students code, they demonstrate problem-solving skills, a growth mindset, initiative, and perseverance. Coding also aligns with the math curriculum and the language curriculum at each grade level.

To kick off our Hour of Code, Danny Yaroslavski spoke to us about his experience coding and creating the Light Bot App. More information about Danny can be found at http://www.thecord.ca/uw-startups-shine/. Thank you to the members of the Coding Club for helping all of the classes code this week.

Progress Reports

Progress Reports for students in Grade 1 to Grade 6 will be sent home Wednesday afternoon with the students. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about your child’s progress.

Christmas Break

Just a reminder the school will be closed from December 19 to January 3 for the Christmas Break. We are looking forward to seeing all of our students on Monday, January 4.
