Principal Message

The Play 60 kickoff assembly was a huge success! As a school, we did 10,000 jumping jacks, danced, and completed a high-intensity workout. Students are reminded track the number of physical activity minutes they accumulate every day in their planners or scorecards (Kindergarten). Students will then share their minutes on the class charts in the hall. Use #nddplay60 the ways you are keeping active at home.

We also have over 50 parents, grandparents, relatives, and friends who’ve committed to moving more in January. If you would like your name on our community board, please call the office at 519-696-2296, fill out the survey at http://goo.gl/forms/PbT3CI0qWt, or send an email to andrea_michelutti@wrdsb.on.ca.

Indoor Shoes

We still have quite a few students without indoor shoes. Please send a pair of running shoes with your child this week. Proper shoes are required for gym class and indoor shoes keep the classrooms and school clean.

Police Checks for Volunteers

To align with the new board policy, volunteers at the school will require a Police Vulnerable Sector Check. We are asking that parents and family members who are interesting in volunteering in the school or on field trips have this check completed. Last Wednesday, a letter was sent home with each student that will allow for volunteers to receive this check at the reduced rate of $10. Once you receive your Police Vulnerable Sector Check, please send it to the office. If you have any questions or concerns, please email andrea_michelutti@wrdsb.on.ca or call the school at 519-696-2296.

Lost and Found

The lost and found items have been displayed in the main hall until next Friday. Any unclaimed items will be donated on Friday.

Me to We Battery Collection

This week will be the final week for battery collection. If you have any used batteries, please send the batteries to school by Friday.

Bag to School

Out with the old and in with the new. Bag2School is back! Fill up the blue bag that will come home before the Christmas break with gently used clothing, shoes, bedding, coats, belts and soft toys. These items will be collected, weighed and distributed to those in need in developing countries. For each ton collected our school will receive $200. Since we have started this campaign, we have raised over $1900.

Items will be collected until 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

Mad Science

The “Imagination Investigation” Program will run on Thursdays for 8 weeks beginning on January 28 to March 28 from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The cost of this program is $108.00. Flyers were sent home this week.
