Principal Message

Another great week at New Dundee Public School. Don’t forget to track your Play 60 minutes. We will have a brief assembly on Wednesday at 10:50 a.m. to celebrate our successes and give out prizes for great participation.

Play 60 Evening – Wednesday, January 27

The Wilmot Youth Action Council will be running an evening activity on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The purpose of the event is to give the members of the WYAC a chance to develop their leadership abilities and families to get moving together to celebrate Play 60. There are lots of prizes. Hoping to see our families out on Wednesday night.

Professional Activity on Friday, January 29

The school will be closed for students as the teachers are working on assessment and evaluation.

Crayola Markers

Crayola has launched Crayola ColorCycle to collect and repurpose used markers. Just 8.3 pounds of plastic (markers) can be made into 4 litres of fuel for cars. If you have old used markers (doesn’t have to be Crayola), please send them to school. This initiative will be used as a task for our Green Team.

Bus Cancellation Days

When buses are cancelled, the school remains open. It is a regular day of learning for students. Students review and consolidate their learning or catch up on any missed work. It is not a day of free time or movies. All walking students are encouraged to attend school on bus cancellation days.

Spring Arts Night

If you are interested in helping out with a community Spring Arts Night, please plan to attend a special meeting on February 4 at 7 p.m. in the library. Parent support is needed to organize this event.

Bag to School

Thank you to our families for supporting Bag to School. This collection we raised $155.25.

Optimist Club of New Dundee

February is Youth Appreciation Month. At our February meeting we will be thanking the youth in our community for the many hours of volunteering they perform each year. We do not want to miss any youth and ask you, our members, and leaders to nominate someone. Please go to our website: www.newdundeeoptimists.ca and nominate a youth or several. The nominations are open to anyone in the community.

We will also be awarding the Adult Hero award. Once again, nominations are open to anyone in our community to suggest an adult worthy of consideration. Your nominations would be most appreciated and the nomination process can be found at our website.
